About Us

The Amarillo SPCA is a non- profit animal shelter serving our community since 1988. We are not affiliated with the national SPCA and receive no funding from them or any other federal or state organization. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we rely on our community to keep our doors open through donations of goods, cash and volunteer time.  We currently care for about 100 dogs & puppies and 40 cats & kittens. It is our desire to find perfect homes for each of our shelter animals and they will remain with us until that happens, as we are a no-kill shelter. We are advocates for spay and neuter programs and urge our community to assist in our overpopulation problem by sterilizing family pets as well as the stray animal community.

The Amarillo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals believes that animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measure and are entitled to legal, moral, and ethical consideration and protection.  Our mission is to be an advocate for animals and to defend their rights; to provide for the well-being of our community's animals who are abandoned, injured, subjected to unfair or cruel treatment, or otherwise in need; to cultivate in our community an awareness of the animals whose world we share; to promote a bond of mutual assistance between people and animals; and to instill respect for and appreciation of all living things.
