PET SPOTLIGHT

Bubba

Do you enjoy napping? Leisurely strolls around the block? So does Bubba! This mature fella is overdue finding a loving, cozy, indoor retirement home of his own. Handsome Bubba is an 11 1/2 year old lab mix with a short haired jet black coat sprinkled with gray. He had a playday at Le Chateau Pet Resort where he won the hearts of staff with his sweetness. They also reported he “loved getting pampered in our spa and spending time outside with our staff. He really enjoyed walking around in the sun, but his favorite thing to do was nap, and he would really love to be your TV watching partner. Bubba is a sweet boy who really enjoys spending time with people, and would thrive in a home as an only child.”

This adorable old man had a rough start to life and has been overlooked at the shelter. Early in life he was attacked by a dog while in his yard, leaving him with wounds on his face and apprehension when around dogs. He healed up nicely and is now an older laid back fella, but other dogs may still scare or intimidate him so being an only pup is probably best. Vets suggest more frequent visits as our pets age so Bubba may need that attention and maybe some arthritis meds are in his future, but a vet check will know. He has been a shelter pup for several years so training and supervision are needed until he learns the rules of the house.

Barron

This Gentle Giant is an indoor pet. Barron, who was previously named Santi, is believed to be a Lab/Great Dane mix and is 2 1/2 years old. He has handsome brindle coloring. He was surrendered due to owner's job changing to all travel. Barron is housebroken. He has learned to “sit” and was actively being trained with other commands. Roughly 75 pounds and continuing to fill out. He is a wonderful walk companion, friendly with humans, and playful with other dogs. Barron is affectionate, calm, and spirited making him an excellent family companion. He loves his toys, is very well behaved and attentive. Barron is available for adoption.

B.B.

B.B is a 5 year old Chihuahua mix. She was a rescue after her owner passed away. B.B. would be best in a home with no children. She is a bit scared and nippy right now. However, she is friendly in a calm and quiet environment; just shy until she gets to know you. (approx DOB 6/20/20)

Bear

Bear is a 4 1/2 years old, Shar-Pei. His coat coloring is a dark chocolate. This is quite the handsome guy! Bear came to us from the Canyon Animal Control, as he was probably dumped somewhere in Canyon. Bear weighs approximately 65 pounds. He is a sweet boy, and a very strong dog. Bear is active and playful and likes men and women. We don't know if he's been around children. Caution: If you raise your hand too fast around Bear, he backs up. We think he might have been hit at some point. We hope you will come meet Bear! (approx DOB 10/20/2020)

Bella

Bella is a 10 year old (DOB: 4/1/2015), Shepherd mix, who has been at our shelter for a few years. She is fawn or light brown with black in her coat coloring. Bella was adopted in 2018, but back to our shelter in 2022. This girl needs a 'forever' home where she is loved. Possibly with no other dogs.

Birdie

UPDATE-Trying out a home for a week! Belle is Chihuahua mix and is about 3 1/2 years old. Possibly born about October 2021. Surrendered due to Birdie is Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and is 3-4 years old. She was found in a rental house, after everyone moved out. Birdie has a good looking reddish brown coat, and pretty eyes. She is very quiet and is good with other dogs.owner not physically able to take care of Belle any more. She is good with other dogs. Belle will need instruction in house training. She is somewhat timed, but a very sweet little girl.

Blitzen

Blitzen is a 3 year old, indoor pet. He appears to be Chihuahua mix. Coat coloring is tan. Blitzen is crate trained, quiet, and likes men and women. We think he would be great with kids too. Blitzen isn't housebroken, so will need instruction. He is good with other dogs, but introduce slowly to any other animals. (approx DOB 12/16/21)

Boomer

Boomer is 5 1/2 years old (DOB: 10/7/19). She is a light brown/brindle colored, female Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix. Boomer is a friendly, sweetheart who likes people and other dogs. Depending on the situation, she can sometimes be a bit shy. When the weather is warm, Boomer enjoys a good romp in a doggie pool to stay cool and have fun. She isn't leash broke and will need a home where she can have some patience, love and training until she understands the house rules. UPDATE- Boomer is currently getting some off site attention in a foster home! If you would like to meet her, call ahead for a time.

Brody

Brody is a 6 year old (DOB:12/27/18), Heeler/Dalmation mix. Coloring is black with white spots and black mask. Brody is good with most other dogs, active and playful. Brody seems to like both children and adults (may be a bit apprehenisive around some men). We don't know if he is housetrained so may need some instruction. We would recommend crating Brody at night, or if you are away from the home. This would be at least until you know more about his behaviors.

Brooks

Brooks is about 3 year old and may be a Carolina Dog mix. Coloring is light brown and white. He was found at Thompson Park in early December and never claimed. Brooks has lots of energy and probably needs a home with a family; maybe some children. (approx DOB 6/2/2022)

Bubba

Bubba is a 11 yr. old Black Lab mix who was rescued and brought to the shelter after being attacked by another dog. His injuries have healed nicely and now Bubba needs a new loving home. Bubba has somewhat of a baby face and is a very sweet boy! He loves to play and particularly likes rope and rubber toys. Bubba is quite strong and would need a capable owner. Considering Bubba's history, he may be unhappy being around certain dogs, and he seems a bit dog aggressive at times. If you have another dog, you may want to bring it along for a visit with Bubba. Bubba will need some supervision in house training. We recommend possibly crating at night and if left alone during the day. Bubba had a day of pampering at Le Chateau Pet Resort in April 2025- visit their Facebook page to learn more about his day . (approx DOB 10/2013)

Capone

Capone is a 9-year-old Shepherd mix. Capone is active and playful, and good with kids and adults. Capone seems very protective of his 'people'. His short coat coloring is tan with white, and a black muzzle. A good-looking boy with those pretty eyes. Capone is an escape artist! He is an excellent fence jumper, and requires a sturdy, tall fence that he can't go over or dig under, and perhaps an enclosed run or outside play area. Capone would benefit from socialization; exercise and obedience training recommended. We've also observed he's good with female dogs, but not male dogs. Do come meet this sweetie. (Approx DOB 7/4/2016)

Coconut

Coconut is a 4 year old (DOB: 2021), female mix breed, some of which is Pit Bull Terrier. She was a rescue and is now spayed and ready to go home with someone. This is a good looking, medium to large size dog. Coconut is very sweet and laid back. She is best with other calmer, laid back dogs, like herself. Coconut's coat coloring is white and tan (sort of beige).

This sweet girl is Cookie. She is a 4 year old (approx. DOB: Spring 2021). Cookie is a Pit Bull Terrier mix. She was found outside SPCA, tied to a crate. She was pregnant, and almost immediatly delivered her puppies here at our shelter. Cookie was certainly a good momma to those pups. Now Cookie needs a home of her own, a 'forever' home. Cookie is a sweet girl, active and playful and good with other dogs. Her coat coloring is tan with some brown. Full grown and sort of small to medium in size.

Cookie is just 10 months old (DOB: 8/3/2024), and appears to be a mix breed, perhaps some Labrador and Collie mix. She's a beauty in her black & white coat. She was surrendered because her owners felt they were too old to give Cookie the life she needed and things she deserved. Cookie is a very sweet and loving dog. She has lots of energy, being a pup, and is very playful. Cookie is good with other dogs. She has been around men, women and children. She does like to chew some, so needs toys, as well as someone to spend time with her.

Dax

UPDATE-Adopted! Dax is about 6 months old (DOB: 6/19/2025). He is kind of a duke's mixture when it comes to breeds. We do know he has Labrador Retriever in that mix. Dax's coat coloring is tan with 3 different colors on his face (brown/black/white), then white on chest and tummy. Dax was born at our shelter; his mother is named Sugar. Dax is quiet, crate trained and an active little guy. He will be medium to large in size when grown. Dax likes men, women and children, and is good with other dogs. He needs more training in commands; like listening for direction. He loses interest quite easily. Dax is pretty good on a leash. He needs a home with someone who has time for him, who can give him love and attention.

Delilah

Delilah is a Black Lab mix, 13 1/2 years old (DOB: 11/2011). This 'senior' sweetheart is back at our shelter once again and needing a forever home. She has a short haired coat, gentle eyes and a ready ‘smile’. She is such a sweet girl, who loves to cuddle and get attention. Delilah is great with people and will be your best friend/loyal companion. She loves to go for walks, play in pools and her favorite treat just might be peanut butter! Delilah tends to be bossy/dominant with other female dogs. It's difficult to break them up, if they happen to get into a scuffle. She may be ok with older male dogs, or as an only dog in your household. Probably best to go to a home with older children as well. Delilah was apparently housetrained but we do recommend supervision in a new home, possibly crating her at night and when she is home alone in the day until she can be taught the house rules.

Dusty

Dusty is about 3 year old and is a Boxer mix. He was abandoned in front of SPCA shelter today. He's a handsome boy, and one who is very friendly and sweet with people; kids and all. He may be best as an only dog, or with certain dogs. His coat coloring is reddish tan, brown and white. We know Dusty needs a good home. We don't know about house training, so he may need instruction. We hope you will come meet this one. (approx DOB 6/20/22)

Evie

UPDATE-Trying out a home for a week! Meet Evie! Evie is a 1 1/2 year old staffie/Curr mix. Evie is the sweetest girl and is currently looking for her forever home! Evie was the most lovable little girl, she was so excited in the car to come visit us for a playdate! Evie spent a day at Le Chateau Pet Resort where they said she enjoyed cuddling with our staff, but playtime was her favorite, and she made so many new friends! Evie would love to meet you, and would really thrive in a home with siblings!

Fitzgerald

UPDATE-Trying out a home for a week! Fitzgerald is Border Collie/Shepherd mix. His coloring is black with lots of white, and he is very handsome. Just look at that smile, you want him, you know you do! Date of Birth was January 2025, so still a young guy. Fitzgerald seems okay with other dogs here at the shelter.

Ghost

Ghost is a 3 year old Heeler/Boxer/Pitt mix, kind of heinz 57 variety. His coat coloring is black & white. He is neutered and has his vaccinations and immunizations. This guy is housebroken and crate trained; ready to fit right into your home! He is good with other dogs and with cats. But likes his meals separately from any other pets in the household. Ghost is a super sweet boy, and so very friendly. He likes being around adults and children. Ghost is a very active dog, who loves to play, and likes being outside, walking with his people. He also enjoys car rides. Lying on the couch watching TV with you, is just another of his favorite things. You will need a yard with a tall, secure fence if Ghost is to spend any time alone outdoors.

Gracie

UPDATE-Adopted! Gracie was found running loose on S. Coulter, and rescued by our shelter. We have posted but she was never claimed, so now an SPCA dog, and available for adoption. Gracie is about 1 1/2 years of age, possibly some Shepherd/Husky mix, or even some type of Hound in that mix. Her coat coloring is black & tan, and she has one blue and one brown eye. Gracie loves toys and truly loves to play. She is a very sweet, outgoing girl. She is good with other dogs, but is a bit food aggressive. Favorite treat happens to be hotdogs.

Hades

UPDATE-Trying out a home for a week! Hades is Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador mix. He is one of 8 puppies found on the road and brought to our shelter. Born between first and middle part of July 2025. Hades' coloring is all gray with small bit a white on chest. He is wearing a black velvet collar. Siblings are Apollo, Artemis, Poseidon, Zeus, Demeter, Hera and Hermes. They are friendly, active pups that will need playtime, exercise and instruction on house rules. These pups can be adopted, but not old enough to be completely vetted. May not be able to go home with you right now.

Jasper

Jasper was abandoned in a crate in front of our shelter, along with his siblings. We are guessing a date of birth about mid February, 2024. So Jasper is just about 1 year of age. He is a Labrador mix. He is friendly and good with other dogs. Coloring is lots of black with white blaze on neck & toes.

Jax

Meet JAX . . . This guy is a Shepherd/Husky mix. He is 7 months old, born in April 2025. Jax is at our shelter and really wants to be adopted before the Holidays. Jax is okay with other dogs, This boy is friendly, but a little timid too.

Khloe

Khloe is a 9 1/2 year old (DOB: 4/1/16), female American Staffordshire Terrier. We rescued Khloe from Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society in 2017, when she was a year old. She is a good looking, white with black spotted dog, who is medium in size. Due to a recent accident, Khloe lost her back left leg. She didn't let that stop her one bit! She is active and playful. Khloe might be a bit aggressive with other dogs, so should probably be an 'only dog'. We don't know if she is housebroken. Will certainly need instruction in a new home environment, as she has been at the shelter awhile. This is not a dog for a home with young children. Do come visit Khloe at the Amarillo SPCA. She needs a loving home.

Kia

UPDATE-Adopted! KIA is a 1 year old, Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler). She is a beautiful girl. Kia is at our shelter with her 6 puppies: Churro, Hazel, Onyx, Oreo, Pearl and Pixel. We hope you will come meet them all. The puppies are only 3 weeks old, and cute as buttons. Kia is a wonderful momma to her litter. Kia is not ready to go home with anyone right now, due to taking care of her babies. She can be adopted, but will stay with her family for awhile.

Koda

Koda is a tan & white Terrier mix. Koda is about 4 years old (DOB:5/5/21). Dog Scanner indicated this dog could be part Canaan Dog. We really don't know the breed mix. He is quite active and playful, good with adults and children. This is a cutie, extremely friendly and sweet; just full of fun! Koda is medium in size. He is crate trained and good with other dogs. Koda plays fetch, cuddles on the bed, and loves treats. He has learned 'sit', 'lay down' and 'kennel'.

Kriss

Kriss is a Shepherd mix. He is about 7 months old (born February 2025). He has a beautiful brindle coat. Kriss is medium size and perhaps still growing. Kriss likes people, and seems a quiet guy. He is a bit frightened since coming to our shelter this month, and likes to hide in the corner. Kriss wants a home with people who will spend time with him and give him lots of love.

Linda

Linda is one of Xena's puppies. She is Hybrid Boxer and is 4 months old (DOB: 5/6/2025). Coloring is Black with white down center of face, white chest and paws. Xena has other puppies you may want to come and meet in addition to Linda.

Lola

Lola is a about 7 1/2 years old (DOB: 11/3/17), possibly Labrador Retriever/Patterdale Terrier mix. She is active and playful and is crate trained. She's small to medium in size, and quite the cutie; likes to stand at and for attention! Lola likes children and adults. However, she should be an 'only' dog in the household.

Miles

Miles was abandoned in a crate in front of our shelter, along with his siblings. We are guessing a date of birth about mid February, 2024. So Miles is just about 1 year of age. He is a Labrador mix. He is friendly and good with other dogs. Coloring is lots of white with big black spots. Miles is ready to find a home of his very own.

Mitzi

UPDATE-Adopted! Mitzi is about 4 1/2 years old (DOB: 1/12/2021), and possibly part Parsons Russell Terrier and Pointer. She is a little sweetheart, but very shy. She is friendly, just somewhat nervous around people, and you must gain her trust. Mitzi needs someone to give her a home with lots of love, patience and attention. She has had minimum leash training. Mitzi is an indoor pet; housebroken and crate trained. She doesn't care for other dogs, so needs to be an 'only' dog. Also a home with no children, or much older children. Mitzi loves hotdogs

Mr. Heart

Mr. Heart is about 1 1/2 years of age. He is a Labrador mix, with possibly some Pitt in the mix, we aren't sure. In March 2024, Mr. Heart was found on the road between Fritch and Amarillo, and brought to our shelter. This is such a sweet dog, he is friendly and likes people. He is high energy, and climbs and can jump high. He needs someone who can spend time with him, playing and exercising. He will also need a yard with a tall, secure fence if he spends much time outside. He loves to chase balls and enjoys pool time. He's good with other dogs. Mr. Heart loves meal time and is a good eater, but doesn't seem to put on any extra weight. He enjoyed a day of play at Canine Country Club 8-3-25. Nala

Nala is 4 years old (DOB: 4/8/21) , and is a tan and white Husky/Pit Bull Terrier mix. Owner surrendered, due to owner not having a back yard for Nala to run and play. Nala is good with other dogs. Needs instruction in house training. Loves to play with toys, loves to cuddle and is great with other animals (cats included) and with children

Olaft

Olaft is about 6 1/2 months old, (DOB:4/20/2025). His momma is a Sheepdog and daddy was a Great Dane. Olaft's coloring is white with brown and black on face, and some brown blotches. Olaf has been with a foster family and is now kennel trained, potty trained, good with other dogs. He loves to sleep in his kennel with the door open.

Otis

Otis is a young Belgian Shepherd Malinois. He is about 6 months old. Otis was a stray, brought to our shelter by a Potter County Sheriff's Officer. A handsome boy, whose coloring is brindle, with a bit of white. He is a bit frightened right now. Our staff and volunteers will be working with him. Otis's left eye has been shot with a BB gun. Otis needs an owner who knows how to handle a Belgian Shepherd.

Paige

Paige is about 8 months old and weighs approximately 40 pounds and still growing. We believe she is Labrador mix, with possibly some American Staffordshire Terrier in her mix. Paige was abandoned, along with several siblings. All left in crates outside the Amarillo SPCA. Paige is certainly used to being around other dogs. Her coloring is white, with big black spots (that I'm sorry you can't see in this picture).

Penny

Meet this little girl, Penny. She was born 10 3 2025 and is a Labrador mix. Her coat is mostly black, with 1 white front paw, and white on her chest. Penny is a cute, busy little pup, who is okay with other dogs/pups.

Pixel

UPDATE-Trying out a home for a week! Pixel is one of Kia's six pups. Momma KIA is a Heeler mix. Other pups are Churro, Hazel, Onyx, Oreo and Pearl. They are only about 3 weeks old, born around the end of August, 2025. Pixel can be adopted, but will be awhile before able to go home with anyone. This pup sports a white coat with spots all over. So cute and cuddly.

Raider

This is Raider! He is 2 years old (born May 2023), and is a Siberian Husky. Raider is black and tan, with the prettiest blue eyes. Raider was surrendered, as his owners felt they had no time for him. They wanted him to be adopted to a good home and be loved. They said he has big ears, so he is a good listener. Raider wants to go on adventures, and will be a good boy! You can't see it in this picture, but Raider has an overbite. He is very sweet and friendly; also good with other dogs. Come meet him!

Ruby

Ruby is a young, red Heeler mix. She is a very sweet, happy and friendly girl. Ruby is reddish brown in her coloring and has a white chest. Such pretty, friendly eyes too. She seems to get along well with most people but may be best with just adults and older children. She does prefer a calm environment. Ruby is okay with other dogs. We don't know about house training, and she may need instruction in a new home environment.

Ruffie

Ruffie is a dark brown, 5 1/2 years old, Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix. He was in foster care until he was 6-8 months old, then brought to our shelter. He gets along well with other dogs. Coloring is dark brown with white. (est DOB 10/7/19)

Rylan

Rylan is a German Shepherd mix. His birthdate is 2/14/2025, so just a pup! He was very frightened when coming to our shelter, but is now coming out of his shell. Rylan is a very sweet pup. His coat coloring is brown with black and a bit of white on chest. Rylan has pretty eyes too. He will need instruction in house training. This will be a large dog when grown.

Shadow

Shadow is about 1 1/2 years old and is a black Labrador mix. Coloring is black with a white chest. This is a friendly fellow for sure. He is very sweet. Shadow knows the command "Sit". We think he could be trained rather quickly. His eyes are a bit different; one blue and the other is half brown and half blue. You need to meet this boy, and he certainly needs a home.

Simon

Simon was abandoned in a crate in front of our shelter, along with his siblings. We are guessing a date of birth about mid February, 2024. So Simon is just about 1 year of age. He is a Labrador mix. He is friendly and good with other dogs. Coloring is lots of black with white on face & chest.

Skye

We would like you to meet SKYE! We think she is about 5 years old. According to the Dog Scanner App, Skye is a mix of multiple breeds: American Pit Bull Terrier 21.6 %, Rat Terrier 15.9%, Brazilian Terrier 11.8% and Chihuahua 10.7%. Not sure what a DNA test would show. Skye was rescued off the streets in July 2021, by a woman who kept her awhile, then brought to Amarillo SPCA. She was an indoor/outdoor pet and is crate trained. She is doing fair at our shelter, but somewhat terrified of everyone. Also frightened of loud noises. If you are interested in Skye, she will need multiple visits before she could go home with anyone. She will need lots of time, patience, love and socialization. But this good-looking dog does need a loving, 'forever' home. (est DOB 1/12/20)

Sugar

Sugar is less than 1 year old, and is a Labrador Retriever mix. She is a lovable little sweetheart! Sugar would like to be in your lap. She puts her paws up on you for attention. Sugar wants hugs and kisses; just any attention she can get. A very active and playful girl, who is good with other dogs. She has a short coat with soft fur, and is a golden tan color.

Teagan

Teagan is one of Xena's puppies. She is Hybrid Boxer and is nearly 4 months old (DOB: 5/6/2025). Coloring is black with white around muzzle and on chest. A bit of white on the paw as well. Xena has other puppies you may want to come and meet in addition to Teagan.

Topper

Topper is a mixed breed, and we are thinking Portuguese Podengo/Carolina Dog mix. She is about 1 year and 4 months old (DOB: February 2024). Topper was surrendered, due to owner going into the Navy. Topper is very active and wants lots of attention. She likes to be around people. She loves to play with toys. Topper's coat coloring is brown, and just look at those pointed ears. This is a friendly girl who likes babies, toddlers, children of all ages, and adults: she doesn't know what stranger means. You will fall in love with Topper when you meet her! Topper is also good with other dogs. She will need instruction in house training.

Wellington

Wellington was abandoned in a crate in front of our shelter, along with his siblings. We are guessing a date of birth about mid February, 2024. So Wellington is just about 1 year of age. He is a Labrador mix. He is friendly and good with other dogs. Coloring is lots of black with white on right side of muzzle. Also white chest & white leg socks with speckles. A mix of coloring on this boy! He is very ready for a home of his own.

Willow

Willow is Husky/Shepherd mix. She is only 5 months old and was born in April of 2025. She was abandoned in a home when her owners moved out. Willow is needing a new home that offers love and care. Her coloring is mostly black with a white chest. Willow is active and playful and good with other dogs. She likes adults and children. Willow will need house training and some basic training. She's been mostly outside but wants to come in and have that attention and love.

Xena

UPDATE-Pending Adoption! Xena is a white Boxer mix. She is 1 1/2 to 2 years of age. Xena is very friendly and loves people. She is leash trained. Xena just had puppies on May 6, 2025, and has been such a good momma to those babies.
