Barbie was rescued from Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare, and is here at our shelter, waiting for a forever home. Barbie is a good looking girl, with her brindle colored coat.  She does need to be an 'only' dog (she prefers it that way). We don't have a lot of history on Barbie, so she may need instruction in house training in a new environment.  We would suggest crating at night and if left alone during the day.

B.B..jpg

B.B.

B.B is a 2 year old Chihuahua mix. She was a rescue after her owner passed away. B.B. would be best in a home with no children. She is a bit scared and nippy right now. However, she is friendly in a calm and quiet environment; just shy until she gets to know you.

Bubba has somewhat of a baby face and is a very sweet boy! He loves to play and particularly likes rope and rubber toys.  Bubba is quite strong and would need a capable owner.  Considering Bubba's history, he may be unhappy being around certain dogs, and he seems a bit dog aggressive at times.  If you have another dog, you may want to bring it along for a visit with Bubba. Bubba will need some supervision in house training. We recommend possibly crating at night and if left alone during the day.  Bubba will also need a secure fence in his new home.

Buddy.jpg

Buddy

Buddy is a Great Dane mix, possibly some Shepherd or Lab in the breed mix.  He is 6.5 years old (DOB: Sept 2015).  Buddy was an owner surrender.  Buddy is good with other dogs; however usually prefers being around female dogs.  As far as people are concerned, he seems to prefer women, once he warms up to them.  Buddy is a big, shy boy who probably needs a calm environment, with no small children, and no stressful situations or surroundings.  Once comfortable with you, he likes to cuddle up.  The people who surrendered Buddy mentioned bad habits of pulling things off the table: He is a large dog who needs space.

She loves any type of ball, loves to play outside and really enjoys walks. Chani has been around men and women, but we don't know how she is with children.

Connor.jpg

Connor

Connor is a 3 year old, male Cane Corso Shepherd mix.  A Cane Corso Shepherd is an Italian breed of Mastiff.  This breed is usually even tempered and very intelligent.  Being a breed mix, Connor is a medium to large dog (only 58-60 pounds). He would be best with experienced pet parents, and certainly unafraid around large breed dogs.  He is an indoor/outdoor dog, who is active and playful.  Connor is good with men, but we don't know if he's been around women and children.  Connor is sweet, strong and energetic.  He does like to play with large, well made toys. Dogs always need the human reaction, but toys can help reduce boredom as well. Connor needs space for exercise when out of doors, and a securely fenced yard.  This dog is probably not an apartment dog, nor one for novice owners.  He also may not like being left alone.

He was left at the front of our shelter with his crate, food, treats, blankets, toys, harness, leash, etc. We wish we knew his previous name, but we have named him Dante. This is a handsome dog who has been well taken care of. A bit hard to tell from these pictures, but his coat coloring is black and white. The white is on chest and all 4 paws (front and back of paws). Dante seems to really like other dogs and wants to play with them all. He was frightened when first coming out of the crate, but so friendly now. This is a sweet boy that you will want to meet.

Delilah.jpg

Delilah

Delilah is a Black Lab mix approx. 10 years old (in 2022), given to us by her owner who was moving into a home without a yard.  She wanted Delilah to have a new home where she could exercise and play. She has a short haired coat, gentle eyes and a ready ‘smile’.  She is a sweet girl, who loves to cuddle and get attention.  Delilah is great with people and will be your best friend/loyal companion. She loves to go for walks, play in pools and her favorite treat just might be peanut butter!  Delilah tends to be bossy/dominant with other female dogs. It's difficult to break them up, if they happen to get into a scuffle. She may be ok with older male dogs, or as an only dog in your household. Probably best to go to a home with older children as well.  Delilah is apparently housetrained but we do recommend supervision in a new home, possibly crating her at night and when she is home alone in the day until she can be taught the house rules.

She is well-mannered, and Jade deserves the best of homes.  Please make sure that you have a secure fence to keep Jade home and safe.  This type breed is known to be escape artists if they are left alone in the back yard for long periods without attention.  We don't know Jade's background in house training so she may need supervision in a  new home environment.  We recommend possibly crating Jade at night and when home alone in the day to help with the process.

She is doing fair at our shelter, but somewhat terrified of everyone. Sundance is new at our shelter. He is 1 year & 3 months old (DOB: 1/15/22). Sundance is a Queensland Heeler (that's a reference to the color of an Australian Cattle Dog versus Blue Heeler). Sundance coat coloring is sort of red and light browns. This good looking guy has been an indoor/outdoor pet. He is housebroken, quiet, active and playful. Sundance is good with children and adults. He does have a bad habit of chewing up stuffed animal toys. Sundance rides great inside car or truck. He loves being around family and forms a bond. Sundance loves to play. We need a home where the person or family who adopts, has time for Sundance.

Taz.jpg

Taz

Taz is a spunky little guy who is an Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler) mix about 6 years old.  He’s got a short- haired black coat with a splash of white down his neck and chest. He’s a sweet, friendly, happy fellow that loves to hang out with his best friend Shep. They were both surrendered due to their owner’s declining health.  Since Taz and Shep are bonded buddies, we will adopt these special guys out together to a forever home. We think it’s best they stay away from chickens (and perhaps other livestock) as they caused some casualties in their past lives with poultry!

Tessa.jpg

Tessa

Tessa is a 6-year-old female Husky mix. Her coat is white with light brown spots.  Tessa is a beautiful, sweet dog who wants a forever home and family.  She likes other dogs, but we don't know about cats.  Tessa has been raised around adults but may have a tendency to be frightened of strangers. She may need a little time to bond. Once bonded, she is very calm and relaxed. If you have children, you may want to bring them if you come to the shelter to visit Tessa, to see how they do together. We would recommend crating Tessa at night and if left alone during the day; at least until she is accustomed to a new home environment.

Toffee

Toffee is a 2 month old (DOB: 3/1/23), Pit Bull Terrier, and possibly Carolina Dog mix. A cute little chubby, snuggly pup. Her coat coloring is tan with a white spot on her chest. She also has a black stripe on her tail and has hazel colored eyes. This little girl was born at our shelter, along with Biscuit, Butters, Muffin and Newton. Can't go home yet, but can certainly be adopted.

Adopted!

Toni.jpg

Toni

Toni is a 4 year old (DOB 3/5/2018) female, blue Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador mix. Toni was an owner surrender, due to moving. Toni's coat coloring is gray blue. Toni is friendly, playful, energetic and likes to give kisses. This is a very strong dog so children could probably not handle her well at all. We do know she likes adults and children. Her previous owners said Toni is sweet and lovable . Toni knows commands 'sit' and 'stay'. She may need instruction in house training.

Venus.jpg

Venus

Venus is a 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd. She is black and tan, or tri-color and has pretty brown eyes. This is a very sweet girl, who is active and playful. She likes adults and children. Bad habit would be that she likes to jump up on people, but that can be fixed with a bit of training

Adopted!
